RAM, ROM, secondary storage types

RAM: Volatile, read/write, holds running programs

ROM: Non-volatile, read-only, holds boot instructions

Virtual memory uses hard drive as RAM extension

Optical storage: CD, DVD, Blu-ray - uses laser

Magnetic storage: HDD - uses spinning platters

Solid state: SSD, Flash - no moving parts, faster
